I. Sports Rehabilitation major of Jinzhou Medical University
The major of Sports Rehabilitation began to recruit students in 2012. It was approved as an application-oriented pioneering major of Liaoning Province in 2016. In 2022, as approved by the Ministry of Education of China, the major of Sports Rehabilitation has become an international undergraduate-level program jointly organized by Jinzhou Medical University and Waikato Institute of Technology in New Zealand.
Sports Rehabilitation combines the characteristic advantages of Jinzhou Medical University and the advanced curriculum system & training concepts from New Zealand. It aims to cultivate international vision and professional skills of the undergraduate students, meeting the domestic needs of sports rehabilitation industry and the ongoing trend of the international career development.
The sports rehabilitation teaching and training center covers an area of more than 500 square meters, including two laboratories of sports function training and sports rehabilitation.
At present, there are two around-campus practice bases - the First Affiliated Hospital and the Third Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University. Moreover, there are 12 off-campus practice bases, such as the Sixth Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army of China, and the Institute of Sports Science of the General Administration of Sport of China.
The Sports Rehabilitation major has a united and energetic team of faculty members. All professional teachers have a master's degree or above, and more than 55% of them have obtained doctoral degrees, and more than 36% of them have overseas study experiences. The faculty team also includes clinical teachers, there are 19 multi-skilled teachers engaged in clinical rehabilitation. In the past three years, teachers have been achieved 1 national research project from Natural Science Foundation of China, and 2 projects from Natural Science Foundation of Liaoning Province, and published many academic papers, including 7 SCI papers, 3 core journal papers, more than 10 other papers, and 2 monographs including the first author and corresponding authorships. There are 15 innovation and entrepreneurship projects for students, and we guide students to participate in various entrepreneurship competitions at all levels, and have won 2 provincial second prizes, 1 third provincial prize and several school-level awards.
Students will acquire the concepts about advanced sports rehabilitation, have the knowledge and skills of new medical science, cross-cultural communication, capable of combining Chinese and Western advantages, promoting scientific innovation and entrepreneurship consciousness. Graduates are competent of conducting sports rehabilitation treatments in hospitals at all levels or foreign-related medical institutions, rehabilitation institutions, pension institutions, and can also work as sports rehabilitation physician at international and domestic professional sports teams, professional sports clubs, sports and fitness venues, universities and research institutes in China and worldwide.
II. Waikato Institute of Technology
